Portugal is the country of Lisbon, at Europe's western edge by the ocean. Travel to Portugal, born in Portugal, the south of Portugal.

Its border with Spain is among the oldest in Europe, essentially unchanged since the thirteenth century. Portuguese is spoken by more people than French, chiefly because of Brazil, and the 1755 Lisbon earthquake reshaped European thought about disaster.
