pram

UK/pɹæm/
nounA2+Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #12,717 of 15,258neutral

Other forms: prams

A pram is the wheeled bed a baby is pushed in. Push the pram, a pram in the hall, put him in the pram.

The baby lies flat, which is what separates it from a pushchair and what makes it right for a newborn, since a very young spine needs to lie straight. It is short for perambulator. Americans say baby carriage.
