precision

UK/pɹɪˈsɪʒ.ən/US/pɹɪˈsɪʒ.ən/
nounC1Common in everyday speech and writing · #4,873 of 15,258leans written

Precision is being exact and definite. Great precision, with precision, precision engineering.

In measurement, precision and accuracy are different things: precision is how closely repeated measurements agree, and accuracy is how close they are to the truth — a set of readings can be precise and consistently wrong. That distinction is the single most useful thing about the word. Precision engineering means working to very fine tolerances. Note precise; and that false precision, quoting a figure to more decimal places than the data supports, is a common way of misleading.
