Other forms: pummeled, pummeling, pummels, pummelled, pummelling
To pummel is to hit repeatedly with the fists. Pummel him, pummelled by the waves, pummelling the bag.
The repetition is the whole word — one blow is not pummelling. It is used of weather and waves as readily as of fists. The word is an alteration of pommel, the knob on a sword hilt or a saddle, because striking with that end is what the verb first meant.
