reconciled

UK/ˈɹɛkənsaɪld/US/ˈɹɛkənsaɪld/
adjectiveC12 meaningsOccasional — familiar, but not everyday · #9,699 of 15,258leans written

Reconciled means brought back together after a long quarrel. Reconciled at last, a reconciled family, reconciled to it.

Reconciled to something is a different idea: it means having accepted what cannot be changed, which is resignation rather than peace. Between people it means the quarrel is over, and it usually needs somebody to move first. Note reconcile, from the Latin for bringing together again.
