Other forms: researched, researching, researches
Research is long careful study done to learn new facts. Do research, a research paper, medical research.
It is uncountable in ordinary use — do research, not do researches — which catches out a great many writers. Primary research gathers new data and secondary research works from what others have published. Peer review is the gate most research passes through before it counts. Note researcher; research and development; and that the stress falls on either syllable depending on who is speaking.
