restored

UK/ɹɪˈstɔːd/US/ɹɪˈstɔɹd/
adjectiveB1+2 meaningsCommon in everyday speech and writing · #4,083 of 15,258leans written

Restored means repaired carefully back to its original state. A restored building, fully restored, restored to its former condition.

In conservation there is a real argument inside the word: restoring means returning something to how it was, and conserving means stopping it getting worse — and the two can conflict, because restoration always involves guessing. A sympathetically restored building keeps the old fabric where it can. Note restored to health; restored power; and that a restored car is usually worth less than an original one in the same condition.
