restraining order

nounC1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A restraining order is a court order to stay away from a person. Take out a restraining order, breach a restraining order, a restraining order against him.

It is a civil order, so breaking one is what turns it into a criminal matter. The English equivalent is often a non-molestation order, which does the same work under another name.
