role model

phraseB2Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A role model is a person so admirable that others copy how they live. A good role model, act as a role model, role models for girls.

The term was coined by a sociologist in the 1950s studying medical students, who found they modelled themselves on individuals rather than on rules. The point of it is representation: children copy people who look like them.
