saddlebag

UK/ˈsædəlˌbæɡ/US/ˈsædəlˌbæɡ/
nounB2+Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #12,381 of 15,258leans spoken

Other forms: saddlebags

A saddlebag is a bag hung from the back of a saddle. Pack the saddlebags, a leather saddlebag, empty the saddlebag.

They hang in pairs so the weight balances, which matters as much on a bicycle as on a horse. The word is also used unkindly for fat carried on the outer thighs, which is a modern and unwelcome extension.
