savings

UK/ˈseɪvɪŋz/US/ˈseɪvɪŋz/
nounB1Common in everyday speech and writing · #2,914 of 15,258neutral

Savings are the money you keep and do not spend, growing slowly for later. Dip into savings, a savings account, life savings.

The standard advice is three to six months of expenses held where you can reach it quickly, before anything is invested. Inflation eats savings that earn less than it, which is why a safe account can still lose value. The word is always plural in this sense.
