Other forms: screenshots

A screenshot is a picture your device takes of its own screen. Take a screenshot, send me a screenshot, a screenshot of the message.

It is now a standard way of quoting anything on a screen, and screenshot has become a verb: I screenshotted it. The key combinations differ by device — Print Screen on Windows, Shift-Command-3 on a Mac, and the two side buttons on most phones. Note screen recording, which captures moving video instead, and that screenshots are evidence in a great many arguments, court cases and news stories.
