serenity

UK/səˈɹɛnɪti/US/səˈɹɛnɪti/
nounC1Common in everyday speech and writing · #6,331 of 15,258neutral

Serenity is deep untroubled calm. Perfect serenity, a sense of serenity, serenity of mind.

It is calmer than calm: serenity suggests a settled state rather than the absence of a disturbance, which is why it belongs to lakes at dawn, to faces and to the Serenity Prayer. The Sea of Serenity is one of the dark plains on the moon, named when they were thought to be seas. Note serene, serenely; and His Serene Highness, which is a genuine style used by several European princely houses.
