Skewed means twisted or set crookedly, out of true. A skewed picture, the frame is skewed, skewed to one side.
The figurative sense is much the commoner and means distorted in a particular direction: skewed results, a skewed sample, skewed towards the wealthy. In statistics, skew is a technical property of a distribution that leans to one side, and a skewed distribution has a long tail on one side and a short one on the other. Note skew as a verb — the sample skews young — and skew-whiff, which is British for crooked.
