Spanish is the language of Spain and most of South America, and the adjective for Spain and its people. Learn Spanish, Spanish food, a Spanish town.

It is always capitalised. Spanish is the second most spoken first language in the world after Mandarin, with far more speakers in Latin America than in Spain. Castilian is the name for the standard variety, and Catalan, Galician and Basque are separate languages spoken in Spain.
