staircase

US/ˈstɛɹˌkeɪs/
nounA2+Common in everyday speech and writing · #6,403 of 15,258leans written

Other forms: staircases

A staircase is the full flight of steps connecting floors, rail included. A spiral staircase, climb the staircase, a grand staircase.

It means the whole structure rather than the steps alone, which is the difference from stairs. Building rules fix the rise and going of each step tightly, because a staircase with uneven steps is one of the commonest causes of falls at home.
