Other forms: storages
Storage is where files stay when the power is off. The disk, not the memory.
That distinction is worth having, since memory holds what a computer is working on right now and storage holds everything else, which is why a phone can run out of one and not the other. Cloud storage keeps it somewhere else entirely. The word has a plain physical sense too, so a storage unit holds furniture and food goes into cold storage. Putting a plan into cold storage means shelving it.
1nounstorageSpace where computer files are kept permanently.
“The phone came with very little storage.”
2nounkeepingThe keeping of goods in a particular place.
“Their furniture went into storage for a year.”
Too few real examples of this word to estimate which sense is commonest.
From store + -age.
