suicidal

UK/ˌsuː.ɪˈsaɪ.dəl/US/ˌsu.əˈsaɪ.dəl/
adjectiveB2Common in everyday speech and writing · #4,953 of 15,258neutral

Suicidal means wanting to end your own life, or recklessly dangerous. Feeling suicidal, suicidal thoughts, a suicidal decision.

The clinical sense describes a state that can change and be treated, and asking somebody directly whether they feel this way does not put the idea into their head — that belief is false and stops people asking. The loose sense means dangerously reckless.
