sunscreen

UK/ˈsʌn.skriːn/US/ˈsʌn.skriːn/
nounA2+Common in everyday speech and writing · #8,340 of 15,258leans spoken

Other forms: sunscreens

Sunscreen is the cream that protects skin from burning in the sun. Apply sunscreen, factor fifty sunscreen, reapply the sunscreen.

Most people use far less than the amount the factor number is tested with, which means the real protection is well below the label. It must go on before you go out and again every couple of hours. The factor measures burning rays only unless it says broad spectrum.
