tent peg

nounB1Not compared — the two pools are counted one word at a time, so a phrase has no score

A tent peg is the spike hammered in to hold a rope to the ground. Hammer in the tent pegs, a bent tent peg, pull out the tent pegs.

It should go in at an angle leaning away from the tent, since a peg driven straight down pulls out. The type matters more than campers expect, and a thin steel tent peg is useless in sand or in soft ground.
