turnaround

UK/ˈtɜːnəˌɹaʊnd/US/ˈtɜɹnəˌɹaʊnd/
nounB2+2 meaningsOccasional — familiar, but not everyday · #10,697 of 15,258leans written

Other forms: turnarounds

A turnaround is how long it takes to complete and return something. A quick turnaround, turnaround time, a three-day turnaround.

It measures the whole round trip rather than the work itself, which is why turnaround times are so much longer than the hours involved — the waiting is most of it. A turnaround is also a reversal of fortune: a remarkable turnaround. Note turn around, written as two words for the verb.
