Other forms: unzipped, unzipping, unzips
To unzip is to open something fastened with a zip. Unzip the bag, unzip your coat, unzip the file.
The computing sense is a metaphor that has entirely taken over in some contexts: unzipping a file means expanding a compressed archive, named after the zip format. Note that the un- reverses an action here, as in untie; and that the zip itself is named from the sound.
