waybill

UK/ˈweɪ.bɪl/US/ˈweɪ.bɪl/
nounC2Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #15,248 of 15,258neutral

Other forms: waybills

A waybill is the document travelling with a consignment. Sign the waybill, an air waybill, check the waybill.

It lists what is in the shipment, who sent it and where it is going, and it travels with the goods rather than ahead of them. Unlike a bill of lading it is not a document of title, so holding the waybill does not mean owning the cargo.
