windsurfing

nounB1+Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #13,395 of 15,258leans written

Windsurfing is riding a board driven by a sail you hold. Go windsurfing, a windsurfing board, learn windsurfing.

There is no rudder at all, since steering is done by tilting the sail forward and back, which is why the first hour is spent falling in. It was an Olympic sport from 1984 and is far harder to start than it looks.
