Other forms: workloads
A workload is the total amount of work one person or team is expected to get through. A heavy workload, a manageable workload, spreading the workload.
It is a management and HR word and it appears almost entirely in discussions about whether there is too much of it. The standard collocations are heavy, increased, unmanageable and reduce — and reduce is the one everybody is hoping for. The word carries a note of weight that amount of work does not: a workload is something carried, which is why it can be shared, lightened, and dropped.
