worshipper

UK/ˈwɜːʃɪpə/US/ˈwɝʃɪpɚ/
nounB2+Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #13,398 of 15,258neutral

Other forms: worshippers

A worshipper is a person taking part in an act of devotion. Worshippers gathered, a lone worshipper, worshippers at prayer.

It names somebody present at the act rather than a believer generally, which is why a congregation counts worshippers and a census counts believers. Note the American spelling worshiper with one p; and that worship is worth plus -ship — it first meant the condition of being worthy.
