aquiline

UK/ˈæk.wɪˌlaɪn/US/ˈæk.wɪˌlaɪn/
adjectiveC2Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #14,942 of 15,258neutral

Aquiline means curved like an eagle's beak. An aquiline nose, aquiline features, aquiline profile.

It is used of noses and of almost nothing else, and it is a compliment in the way that describing a face as noble is — the word carries the eagle's dignity with it. Roman portrait sculpture is where the association was fixed.
