Biodiversity is the richness of all the different living things in one place. Loss of biodiversity, biodiversity net gain, protect the biodiversity.

It counts variety rather than numbers, so a field of one crop has almost none however much is growing. Biodiversity net gain is now a legal requirement of development in England, meaning a site must be left richer than it was found.
