brunch

UK/bɹʌnt͡ʃ/US/bɹʌnt͡ʃ/
nounB1+Common in everyday speech and writing · #4,295 of 15,258leans spoken

Other forms: brunches

Brunch is a lazy meal eaten between the first two of the day. Sunday brunch, go for brunch, a long brunch.

It is a blend of breakfast and lunch, one of the earliest such words to stick, coined in a British magazine in 1895 to describe what Saturday-night students needed on Sunday. The social meaning matters as much as the timing — brunch is unhurried by definition.
