Citywide means reaching every part of a city. A citywide campaign, citywide restrictions, citywide coverage.
It is administrative language and belongs to councils, police forces and utilities. The trouble with it is that a city's official boundary rarely matches the built-up area, so citywide often means less than it sounds and never quite matches what people mean by the city.
1adjectivecitywideReaching every part of a city.
“After the storm, there was a citywide power cut that lasted all night.”

From city + -wide. city comes from Middle English cite. Middle English cite, Old French citet, Latin civitas (“city”), in la-cla - "citizenry", derived from cīvis (“fellow-citizen”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European ḱey- (“lie down; settle”). Cognate with Old English hīwan (“members of one's household, servants”). See hewe. a doublet of civitas. Mostly displaced native burg, whence Modern English borough.
