Other forms: composers
A composer is somebody who writes music. A film composer, the composer of the piece, a composer in residence.
The word separates writing the music from performing it, a division that hardly existed before the nineteenth century — Bach and Mozart were both, and expected to be. A film composer works to picture, timing the music to the second.
