Other forms: concerts
A concert is a live performance where musicians play for a crowd. Go to a concert, a concert hall, the concert sold out.
It differs from a recital in scale — a concert has an orchestra or a band and a recital has one or two performers. Concert pitch is the standard tuning, with A at 440 hertz, agreed internationally in 1955 after centuries of variation. In concert with somebody means acting together. Note that the Italian concertare meant to bring into agreement.

Italian concerto comes from concertare, to bring into agreement, or possibly from Latin concertare, to contend. The two proposed roots mean opposite things, which is a pleasant problem.
