gaga

UK/ˈɡɑːɡɑː/US/ˈɡɑːɡɑː/
adjectiveC1Common in everyday speech and writing · #8,228 of 15,258neutral

Gaga means wildly enthusiastic, or confused with age. Go gaga over him, gone a bit gaga, gaga about the baby.

The two senses are far apart and only the tone separates them: going gaga over something is delight, while going gaga is a cruel way of describing dementia. It is informal in both, and best avoided in the second.
