Other forms: grandparents
A grandparent is the mother or father of one of your parents. My grandparents, a grandparent's house, become a grandparent.
The grand- means one generation removed, which is why the same prefix gives grandchild in the other direction and great-grandparent one step further back. Grandparents do a great deal of unpaid childcare, and in many countries the economy quietly depends on it.
