Other forms: guitars

A guitar is the instrument with six strings that rock stars hold. Play the guitar, an acoustic guitar, electric guitar.

The standard tuning is E A D G B E and the odd interval between the second and third strings is what makes chord shapes work under one hand. An electric guitar makes almost no sound acoustically — the pickups do everything. Note guitarist; and that the word came through Spanish from Greek, and is not related to the sitar.
