Other forms: industrialists
An industrialist is an owner of large manufacturing businesses. A wealthy industrialist, the great industrialists, an industrialist family.
The word belongs to the age when one person could own a whole industry, and it sounds dated for that reason — modern equivalents are shareholders and executives. Many of the great museums and libraries were founded by industrialists, which is a complicated legacy. Note industry, which once meant diligence.
