nutrition

UK/njuːˈtɹɪʃ.ən/US/nuˈtɹɪʃ.ən/
nounB2+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #8,529 of 15,258leans written

Nutrition is the science of what food gives the body and what it needs. Good nutrition, nutrition advice, the science of nutrition.

It is a hard science to do well, because you cannot lock people in a room for thirty years and control what they eat — most of what is known comes from observation, which is why advice keeps changing and why single studies mean little.
