Originally means at the start, before anything changed. Originally from Leeds, originally planned for June, it was originally a chapel.
It sets up a contrast, and the contrast is usually the point: saying a building was originally a chapel tells you it is something else now. Originally from is the standard way of saying where somebody grew up, as against where they live. Note original, meaning both first and new and unlike anything else — an original idea and the original document use the same word in nearly opposite ways.
