procrastination

UK/pɹəʊˌkɹæs.tɪˈneɪ.ʃən/US/pɹoʊˌkɹæs.tɪˈneɪ.ʃən/
nounB2+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #11,740 of 15,258neutral

Procrastination is putting off what you know you should do. Chronic procrastination, beat procrastination, procrastination sets in.

Research treats it as a problem of mood rather than of time management: people put off tasks that make them feel bad, and the delay works because it relieves the feeling now. Starting badly for five minutes is the intervention with the best evidence. Note that the Latin means putting off until tomorrow.
