productivity

UK/ˌpɹɒdʌkˈtɪvəti/US/ˌpɹoʊdʌkˈtɪvəti/
nounC1Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #10,204 of 15,258leans written

Productivity is how much useful output your hours actually produce. Improve productivity, productivity growth, a productivity tool.

In economics it is output per hour worked, and its growth is what makes countries richer over time — nothing else does as much. Personally, the word has been taken over by an industry selling tools, most of which add work. Note produce, from the Latin for leading forward.
