Other forms: profits
Profit is the money a business keeps after paying all its costs. Make a profit, profit margin, net profit.
Gross profit is what is left after the direct costs and net profit after everything, and confusing the two is how a healthy-looking business turns out not to be. Profit and cash are different things: a profitable company can still run out of money. Note that the Latin means progress or advance.
