scrupulous

UK/ˈskɹuː.pjə.ləs/US/ˈskɹuː.pjə.ləs/
adjectiveC1Rare in speech; mostly a word you read · #13,345 of 15,258neutral

Scrupulous means careful to do everything exactly right. Not a corner cut, and not a detail skipped.

It covers honesty and accuracy together, since scrupulous accounts are both correct and honest. The word carries a moral weight that meticulous does not, which is why scrupulous honesty is a phrase and meticulous honesty is not. Its opposite, unscrupulous, is a serious accusation meaning somebody without any moral limits at all, and it is a good deal commoner than the positive form.
