Other forms: sculptures

A sculpture is art with a body — a figure shaped from stone, metal, or clay. A bronze sculpture, a sculpture park, carve a sculpture.

The old division is between carving, which takes material away, and modelling, which builds it up, and the two demand opposite habits of mind — carving allows no mistakes. Casting lets a modelled work become bronze. The Latin means to carve.
