Spotless means so clean that not one mark can be found. A spotless kitchen, a spotless white shirt, a car kept spotless by somebody with time on their hands.
It is stronger than clean and it is a compliment: clean is the standard, spotless is above it. The word also travels from surfaces to reputations — a spotless record, a spotless reputation — where a spot means a stain on your name rather than on your shirt, and that figurative use is common in news and formal writing. The shape is transparent: spot plus -less, the same -less as in useless and endless, so a learner who knows spot can read spotless without being told.
