Superiority is being better or higher than others. Air superiority, a sense of superiority, technical superiority.
In military use it is precise: air superiority means controlling the sky enough to operate freely, and air supremacy is the stronger grade. In ordinary use it is usually about attitude — an air of superiority, a superiority complex — and is unflattering. Note superior, which as a noun means somebody above you in rank; and that a superiority complex was Adler's term, coined as the mirror of the inferiority one.
