Other forms: traffickers
A trafficker is somebody who deals illegally in goods or people. A drug trafficker, people traffickers, convicted as a trafficker.
In people trafficking the crime is the exploitation rather than the movement, which is what separates it from smuggling, where the person paid to be moved and is free at the other end. The distinction decides who is treated as a victim.

From traffic + -er. traffic comes from Middle French trafique, traffique (“traffic”), from Italian traffico (“traffic”) from trafficare (“to carry on trade”). Potentially from Vulgar Latin trānsfrīcāre (“to rub across”); Klein instead suggests the Italian has ultimate origin in Arabic تَفْرِيق (“distribution, dispersion”), reshaped to match the native prefix tra- (“trans-”). The adjectival sense is possibly influenced by tl trapik and follows a general trend in Philippine English to construct a noun from an adjective.
