Other forms: geologists
A geologist is somebody who studies the earth and its rocks. A field geologist, the geologist's hammer, work as a geologist.
The work is reading time out of stone: the order of the layers gives a sequence and the chemistry gives a date. Much of the profession works for oil, mining and construction, and the hammer is still the basic tool of the job.
