Other forms: reconvened, reconvening, reconvenes
To reconvene is to gather again after a break. Reconvene at two, the committee reconvened, reconvene in the autumn.
It is the formal word for a meeting resuming, and it matters procedurally: a body that reconvenes continues the same session, where one that meets afresh does not. Parliaments reconvene after a recess. Note convene, from the Latin for coming together.
