Other forms: tribes
A tribe is a group of people sharing descent, customs and a leader. A nomadic tribe, tribal lands, the tribes of the region.
Anthropologists have largely abandoned the word, since it was applied to non-European peoples and never to European ones of the same size and structure. In loose modern use it means any group with a shared identity.
