artistry

UK/ˈɑː(ɹ)tɪstɹi/US/ˈɑː(ɹ)tɪstɹi/
nounB2+Occasional — familiar, but not everyday · #10,715 of 15,258leans written

Artistry is great skill in a creative art. Sheer artistry, the artistry of the piece, admire her artistry.

It praises craft rather than inspiration — artistry is what you notice on the second viewing, when you see how something was done. It is used of performers, cooks and craftsmen as readily as of painters. Note artist, and the -ry ending which makes a body of skill, as in chemistry and carpentry.
